The collection, covering a wide range of oral history records, their related research outputs and publications on Hong Kong studies and related audio-visual programmes, is set up to enhance public appreciation of the value of oral history in the preservation of local culture and heritage and to promote the use of oral history records for Hong Kong studies.

Available for public use in the library. Digitized audio items can be accessed via Internet while other audio-visual items are available for use in the library through MMIS.
The collection was set up in 2009 under the "Hong Kong Oral History Repository Project" initiated by the HKSAR Government due to an increasing awareness of the significance of oral history. It aims to collect and make available to the public a wide range of oral history materials on Hong Kong for general interest and studies, to enhance public understanding of the value of oral history in the preservation of local culture and heritage and promoting the use of oral history methods in Hong Kong studies.
