
A comprehensive collection of Hong Kong related materials is collected at the reference libraries at Hong Kong Central Library and six major libraries of HKPL, containing historical documents and government publications, including government gazettes, administrative and annual reports of the government, departmental reports, district board minutes and papers, statistical information and ad-hoc publications.

Introduction: | The public libraries have been collecting various materials related to Hong Kong since the City Hall Public Library was established in 1962. Upon the commissioning of the Hong Kong Central Library in 2001, the Hong Kong Studies Department of the Central Reference Library at 8/F holds the largest Collection of materials related to Hong Kong, including comprehensive collection of government gazettes since 1844, past departmental reports and publications on different government administration and policy areas. HKPL is gradually digitizing these publications from the Collection for easy access by the public for research and study on Hong Kong. |
