History and Local Villages
According to some historical records, people started to settle and live in Kwai Tsing District in the era of Kangxi during Qing Dynasty.
Festivals and Customs
Villagers who early settled in the Kwai Tsing District were mainly Hakkas. Some Hakkas' traditional customs are still retained by them.
In early 60s, the government decided to develop Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi as self-sufficient new towns. After a few decades, Kwai Tsing District has been developed as a well-structured and comprehensive community.
